Rory's Charity Run

Chandlings Charity Run

Rory, who is in Year 4 has raised over £650 by doing a 4 mile run, in order to buy an X-box and other games and books for the children on Tom’s Ward at the John Radcliffe Hospital.  Rory, his brother Angus (12) and seven of his school friends ran the 4 mile circuit at Chandlings, on Thursday 26th April.

Rory suffered from a burst appendix in October 2017 and spent a week on Tom’s ward. Unfortunately after coming home he suffered more complications and had to go back onto the ward and have further treatment. Whilst in recuperation at home Rory decided that he wanted to give something back to the hospital.

Rory and his family, along with John Brodley, came up with the idea that he could do a sponsored run and this could be organised in the school grounds.  The children ran the 4 mile course which took them past the school lake and the woods and they finished on the school field near the archery club. Rory ran it in 34 mins and 54 secs.

Congratulations to Rory on a fantastic achievement!
