Farewell to our Year 6 Class of 2020

Even with all the restrictions that the Covid pandemic brought to our school we were determined not to let our fantastic Year 6 children leave without a huge finale recognising the wonderful achievements and memories they had made during their years at Chandlings.

A whole week of activities  was planned by the Year 6 teachers and led by Mr Marchant, culminating in the annual prizegiving outside in the amphitheatre.

The first morning began with a mini sports day followed by a rotation of various activities including catapult building, fire lighting, orienteering and den building which the groups of children took turns at doing each day.

The afternoon ended with a scavenger hunt from which they had to create a picture with all their findings.

Day two put the children into a survival situation where decision making, communication and teamwork were key.  Not many survived by they had great fun trying!  More athletics took place on day 3 followed by the rotation activities and finally the Year 6 'socially distanced' disco.

Prizegiving was very emotional and we were delighted that the rain held off.  As always it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the children's success. Astley won the house shield with a record number of points.

Their last day at Prep School day began with a Chandlings quiz...who knows Chandlings best?  The traditional shirt signing took place amongst many tears and finally a walk through the avenue of trees to many claps and cheers.

We will miss you Year 6 and as Ms Cook said in your Year Book "Wherever life takes you, we hope that Chandlings has given you the foundations to face all that lies before you and thrive. You can take courage from all you have accomplished here and can be confident in your potential to attain any goals to which you strive."
