On 26th November, eight of Chandlings’ keenest Year 6 readers were invited to Cokethorpe Senior School for the Oxfordshire and Berkshire heat of the Kids’ Lit Quiz. The afternoon was a celebration of reading and an opportunity to share a love of literature with other like-minded young people. Participants had to answer 100 questions on children’s literature divided into ten categories, covering a range of literary topics including monsters, nemeses, furniture and portals. Although Chandlings did not make it through to the national final in London, both teams achieved respectable scores in all rounds, against stiff competition from local senior school teams, and Lyra won an individual prize for her knowledge of The Misadventures of Max Crumbly.
