Food Technology is taught throughout the school years, in a state-of-the-art room designed specifically for young cooks.
Our children enjoy making a variety of delicious and nutritious dishes, with an emphasis on using local and seasonal produce. They learn the basics of food nutrition and are given the opportunity to try new flavours and make healthy choices. Each year group focuses on specific food groups and lessons are often cross-curricular.
During the summer term we use some of the produce grown by the gardening club in the school garden. All our children in Years 3-6 bring their own ingredients to school and enjoy taking the (hopefully) scrumptious results home to share with their families!
Examples of recipes we make:
Year 3 - minestrone soup, berry bread and butter pudding, tomato, mozzarella and basil salad, fruit muffins, stuffed peppers, courgette bake
Year 4 - tuna cannellini bean salad, lentil croquettes, lamb burgers, frittata
Year 5 - Chelsea buns, cardamon buns, pizza, couscous salad
Year 6 - Carrot muffins, smoked mackerel pate, salmon fishcakes, swiss roll
