French is taught from Nursery throughout the school. The pupils have two lessons a week and all classes are taught by native speakers. We make the learning of French lively, varied and enjoyable by learning new words using soft toys, playing games and also singing French songs.

Great emphasis is placed on oral fluency but writing is gradually introduced in Year 3. Our teaching approach is to develop children’s confidence in speaking another language.

The children enjoy a French Breakfast during the Summer Term as well as continuous awareness about French culture and traditions throughout the year.
