Chandlings Prep opens new Outdoor Classroom

Chandlings Prep is thrilled to announce the opening of a newly built outdoor classroom highlighting our continued commitment to providing a dynamic and enriching learning environment for our students.

Under clear skies, we joyfully marked the grand opening outdoors, gathering children from Reception through Year 6 alongside enthusiastic parents. Ms. Cook, the Head of Chandlings Prep, and Mrs. Davis, Chair of PATCH, jointly cut a hessian ribbon, commemorating this special occasion.

Thank you to Mr Maskrey, head groundsman, who designed and built the building by hand using local and environmentally friendly materials.  Huge thanks must also go to PATCH (parents and teachers association) for organising events and donating funds raised towards the new building.

Ms Cook and Mrs Davis cut the ribbon.
Mr Maskrey admires his handiwork!

By taking learning outdoors, we aim to break down the traditional classroom walls and offer a space where students can explore, discover, and collaborate in a more natural setting.   Learning outdoors plays a huge part in life at Chandlings and this space provides all teachers and students an area to use even when the weather is inclement.

Ms Cook said, “We know how much parents value the outdoor learning that Chandlings provides and we are excited to see the positive impact this outdoor classroom will have on our school community.”
