Food Technology is taught throughout the school years, in a state-of-the-art room designed specifically for young cooks. The children enjoy making a variety of recipes, with the emphasis on using local and seasonal produce. They learn the basics of food nutrition and are given the opportunity to try new flavours and make healthy choices.
Each year group focuses on specific food groups and lessons are often cross curricular. In the Summer Term we make use of some of the produce grown by the gardening club in the school garden.
Examples of recipes we cook:
Reception - milkshakes, jam tarts, sandwiches, tabouleh, fruit kebabs
Year 1 - apple muffins, fruit jelly and custard, fruity muesli bars
Year 2 - fruit salad, vanilla ice-cream, medieval pasties
