Learning Support

We  recognise that all our children have Learning Differences. That’s why multisensory teaching in the classroom is an everyday occurrence and staff are given regular training in various aspects of Special Educational Needs.

However, individual children sometimes need a little bit of extra support. This could be a short term intervention (to boost a specific area of literacy or numeracy) or a longer term plan to support an ongoing area of weakness.

We have four experienced and specialist teachers within the Learning Support Department who all work with children on a 1:1 basis. The department is located in the hub of the school and parents are welcome to pop in and see us whenever they wish. Promoting your child's happiness and self esteem is at the heart of what we do. Please do come and see us!

Furthermore, we understand that some of our children may be bilingual or learning English as an Additional Language (EAL). We monitor and foster the developing language skills of these children with care and diligence. Where a need for extra support is identified, we’re happy to offer this under the guidance of the specialist EAL teaching staff. The EAL department work together with the subject and form teachers in assessing and helping  children with EAL. Such support may include joining an EAL language development group, having timetabled EAL language lessons, or receiving in-class support. It’s really important to us that children with EAL can embrace school life to the full and access the curriculum to the best of their ability.
